Tisha B’Av

For me the holiday was never about the Temples themselves. It was always about communal grief. And there were times in Jewish history, from the Crusades to the Expulsion from Spain and to the holocaust, when Tisha B’Av spoke directly to our people’s grief and trauma.

Exploring Judaism: More than the Basics

16-Sessions on Sundays starting September 8, 2024 through June 1, 2025

Are you overwhelmed by the number of individuals approaching you for conversion?
Are you unable to meet the demand for Intro to Judaism and Judaism 101 coaching?
Are you in an isolated area and lacking colleagues to share this mitzvah/burden with?

We are proud to offer for the second year our Introduction to Judaism program, “Exploring Judaism: More than the Basics,” led by Rabbi Rena Blumenthal. This program is perfect for those looking to convert to Judaism, new to Judaism, wanting a refresher, or looking for a way to kick-start their next steps in Jewish learning and practice.

Sessions will run from September through June, meeting approximately every other week. Students must be referred by an RRA member or a rabbi in an affiliated Reconstructionist congregation.

The fee will be $350 per student, and rabbis are encouraged to help make the course affordable for students with scholarships from their discretionary funds.

*This is a study course; students will be referred back to their sponsoring rabbi for counseling, pastoral questions, and preparation for conversion.
