Film “My Father’s Name” & Panel Discussion with director Susanna Styron, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and Rabbi Caryn Broitman, moderated by Charlayne Hunter-Gault
The new documentary short, “My Father’s Name,” will be screened at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center on August 18 at 7:30 p.m. The film is 20 minutes long and will be followed by a 60-minute panel discussion with director Susanna Styron, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and Rabbi Caryn Broitman, moderated by Charlayne Hunter-Gault.
“My Father’s Name” tells the intimate story of one woman’s attempt to uncover the truth about her father’s participation in a lynching, find a way to hold her family accountable, and face the dawning awareness of her own unconscious racism.
