SUMMARY:Special Shabbat Musical Service on the Beach--Shabbat Zimra with Yo
 ni Battat
DESCRIPTION:Shabbat Zimra Beach Service with Yoni Battat\nYoni Avi Battat (
 he/him) brings Arab music into the soundscape of American Jewish life thro
 ugh composition\, education\, prayer\, and performance on viola\, violin\,
  oud\, and vocals. Described as "an education for the ear and the soul\," 
 his debut album Fragments seeks to find new pathways to connect with ances
 try and find healing around our fragmented identities. Yoni's newest proje
 ct is Kedmah: The Rising Song Piyyut Project\, which preserves and reimagi
 nes traditional repertoire for Syria\, Iraq\, Jerusalem\, Turkey\, Yemen\,
  and Morocco. Their first album\, Simu Lev\, was released on Rising Song R
 ecords in Spring\, 2024. From 2021-2022 Yoni toured nationally as an actor
  and violinist with the Tony Award-winning musical\, “The Band’s Visit
 .” Yoni lives in Boston\, MA\, working locally and nationally to uplift 
 Mizrahi identity in American Jewish communities.\n\n\n\nShabbat Zimrah bri
 ngs the mystical sounds of Arab and Mizrahi (Eastern) Jewish music into a 
 meditative chanting practice. Led by Yoni Avi Battat on the oud\, this ser
 vice will utilize traditional and original melodies to chant excerpts from
  Shir Hashirim (Song of Songs) and the psalms of Kabbalat Shabbat.\n\n\n\n

 e 2 bridges at the Camp Jabberwocky parking area.\nAttendance at the Beach
