Adult Education Class: Loss, Grief and Transformation: Insights from Modern Literature and Jewish Tradition
We will be reading and discussing Emily Dickinson, The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Leo Tolstoy (suggested translation– Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky) , selections from Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time, Abraham Joshua Heschel, “Death as Homecoming,” and other Jewish texts.
(Note: There are a few copies of the suggested translation of The Death of Ivan Ilyich in the Vineyard libraries.)
